Question Set 1: ACT Goals

Is the ACT necessary?

How the ACt affects college admissions

Many colleges did turn away from standardized testing during the pandemic, but most of that was due to lack of testing centers and cancelled tests. With that in mind, most colleges plan on reverting back to requiring the ACT or SAT for admission in the future. If you would like to look into this more feel free to take a look at this website, which gives a more in depth review of what specific colleges are planning on doing. There are some colleges that plan on sticking without standardized tests, so check to see if the ones you are interested in are on the list! Otherwise, it may be a good idea to start looking into getting the highest ACT score possible to set yourself up for the future, which is what we are here to help you with! If this is the case, continue reading below to start crafting a plan to get your ACT score where you would like it to be.

what score Do i need for college?

building your plan to get you to the college you want to go to

Let’s help you decide what your target score should be. First, if you have not taken the ACT yet it would probably be good to take a practice test to see where you are at right now; a good one is available on this page. If you already have a score, we would encourage you to take a minute and begin to think of a plan for yourself. Think of three colleges that you would want to go to (or more if you would like). Try to pick at least one college that you feel like is in reach for you, one that you think would be easy for you to get into and one that might be a bit of a stretch. Now that you have these colleges in mind, take some time to go to this website and look at the average range of ACT scores that you would need to get into the schools you looked at.

Now do you have those scores in your mind? No matter if you have taken the ACT yet or not, it is important to have a goal in mind of where you want to be. When you first meet with our tutors, they will ask you for your goal of where you want to be and they will do their best to help you reach your goal, since it is our entire purpose to help you ultimately succeed.

what score do I need for a scholarship?

Each path towards scholarships is unique, but just as with college it starts with a goal

Scholarships are slightly more difficult to pin down an exact ACT score for in comparison to college admissions. While there are certain scores that will make you more likely to receive money (around a 30 to start getting money in general, or the 34-36 range to start looking at full ride scholarships from many schools), the policies and decisions range a ton. With this in mind, we would encourage you to look up merit based scholarship opportunities at the college you want to attend and make a decision based on the things posted on each university’s website since there is no universal site that can let you search the necessary scores for each place.

No matter what you end up choosing as your scholarship goal, our tutors are here to help you. Since our company was founded we have always believed that every student, no matter where they start, can get at least a 30 on the ACT. It is our goal and priveledge to help you get to that point, as it gives us immense pleasure to watch the students we have helped tutor succeed and gain a more financially stable future.

Question Set 2: Tutoring Questions

Where do I meet my tutor?

Figuring out where to hold your tutoring sessions

When you finish booking your tutoring session, we will receive your contact information and pass it onto the tutor that you have selected. That tutor will then be responsible for contacting you and figuring out a location that will be convenient for both of you. If you are unsure where would be best, we have had tutors work in many different locations in the past, including the clients home, their own home, or even a local starbucks. Anywhere that is close for the tutor so they can get there quickly is an option.

Do I need to prepare anything?

Things to have ready for when the tutor comes

Your tutor should talk to you beforehand about anything that he would like you/your student to be prepared with; however, there are a few things that will be pretty standard that they will ask you to have prepared. The first will be any homework that they have asked you to do in preparation for the class. Secondly, they will send you a couple practice tests to print out that you will work on during the session to improve. It will be very important to have these prepared, as well as a pen to write with. As long as you have these things ready you should be good to go!

do you guarantee score increase?

looking into what happens if you are not satisfied with the improvement seen

When you book a tutor online you will see that the pricing is heavily based on the past performance of an individual tutor. While that does not guarantee future improvement, that will help you get a sense of what their experience level and success is upfront. Because our tutors and pricing vary so much, we do not have a uniform guarantee of how much you will improve on the test. However, if you completed one of our full courses and did all of the homework associated and did not see a score increase we will provide additional lessons from a more qualified tutor to you at no cost.

Question Set 3: Pricing Questions

How does scheduling work?

How the ACt affects college admissions

When you click to purchase one of our bundles on the main page it will link you to our scheduling and payment software. You will start by selecting the tutor you would like and one of the day(s) and time(s) you would like them to stop by. Then you will proceed to payment, and after you pay for the bundle you will see a green button that will link you back to schedule your next lesson. Hit the “Next Lesson” button at the bottom of the page and it will let you schedule your second and/or third lessons as well (dependent on the bundle you purchased). After you finish choosing the times in the week you would like you are good to go!

Do I Pay upfront?

How your payment is processed

Short answer: Yes. Payment is handled upfront for the entire 5-10 week package. That makes it easier to schedule and to pay the tutor. If you end up not being able to make it to your scheduled appointment you can text the tutor to try to find a different time that week that would work for them. If no such time is available, the cost of the lesson will just be forfeited.

How do I know what price is right for me?

Choosing the right bundle

In our home page we have some information that should help you determine what bundle would be best for your child. If the information provided there is not enough, going through the goal setting process on this page should help as well. Our goal at Lift Tutoring is to provide affordable tutoring options to all families so that everyone has the chance to see their child or themselves improve and have someone truly believe in them along the way. There is no other ACT tutoring business that we can find online that is cheaper than our price points; in fact, the cheapest we found was $60/hour. We wanted to lower that and be able to provide tutors you can trust and who support you at a price that most people can afford. Our goal is to help shape your future. Hopefully no matter what price point or tutor you choose we can do that for you.
